A Typical Sunday Morning

The moment you walk into our gathering we want you to feel welcome. Our greeters, ushers, and welcome center will make you feel right at home while answering every question and providing you with all the information you need. From our opening song to the closing prayer, we want every second of our gathering to be saturated in the truth of who God is and the power of His gospel. Each week we intentionally choose music that is aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly, true to the Scriptures and declarative of the glory of our great God. What anchors our time together, however, is our preaching of God's Word. Our pastoral team's passion for God and His church show through the unapologetic proclaiming of the entire Gospel--Christ crucified, buried, risen, and glorified. Our desire is that throughout our gathering you feel the life-transforming presence of God and leave loving Jesus more, being conformed to His infinitely glorious image.

If you're wondering about giving, we offer online giving on our website as well as a text-to-give option. Or, you can wait until we pass the plate on Sunday. We will never pressure you into giving, because our main goal isn't to get more money; we do hope that you obey God's leading in your life, whatever that may look like. If you want to hear God's truth and experience God's grace, be certain that you will at Smyrna Baptist.

Preaching

Our preaching is first and foremost two-fold: Christ-exalting and Gospel-centered. We preach and teach only the Bible and the entire Bible. We do our Spirit-empowered best to exalt Christ by unashamedly proclaiming the truths of Scripture. We do not preach a prosperity gospel (God only wants you to be healthy and wealthy) nor do we preach a poverty gospel (God only wants you to be poor and afflicted). We preach the whole gospel and nothing else! Sometimes you may leave feeling encouraged by the hope of Christ and other times you may leave feeling convicted by the truth of Christ (hopefully both!). We hope and pray that at all times you leave having come face to face with the life-changing power of Christ.

singing

We believe that the preaching of the Word ought to be accompanied by the singing of the Word. What you can expect in our singing is a blend of rich, timeless hymns--often with a modern twist--and equally biblical contemporary songs; all that point to and magnify Jesus Christ. Though the music ministry has many members and is generationally diverse, we seek to be one unified group, glorifying God by praising His name in song.
